September 2025 Newsletter

Classes start the week of September 15. Parents can stay and watch the Creative Movement and General classes during the first week.

The dress code for each class is listed in the class description on the portal. If you wear dance shorts, please wear tights underneath them.

Attendance is important all year. The first part of the year we are learning new skills. We also work on stretching and strengthening to achieve proper technique. The second half of the year we are perfecting the skills/techniques as well as learning choreography for the recital.

Those who play varsity sports: we understand that you may be missing classes for games and be coming late from practice. We know it is important to be a part of a school team. However, we do expect you to be at class any time you are not at practice or games.

If your child has a class in the upstairs studio: they will enter through the door in front of the building and exit after class through the door in the back of the building. Please pick up your child in the back parking area.

If they have another class downstairs after they will go down the stairs in the front of the building and enter studio 1 through the front doors.

The TENATIVE dates for our annual recital are Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10. These dates should be confirmed by November.

NEW DATES FOR RECITAL CONFIRMED
Sorry for the delay. There was a scheduling conflict with the middle school drama department and our original recital date request, so we have been working to find a solution.

I was just notified that the weekend before has become available at the Carver Middle/High school so our recital will now be on Saturday, May 3 with shows at 12pm and 6pm, and Sunday, May 4 at 1pm. (These dates are confirmed.)

Because of April school vacation we won’t be able to have tech rehearsal on the weekend before the shows so we will be splitting that rehearsal between two weekdays, Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29 after school (most students will only have to come to one of these days). Each class will be assigned a time slot.

Our dress rehearsal will be on Wednesday, April 30 after school and will run like a real show. Creative Movement, General 1, and General 2 will be assigned to either tech rehearsal or dress rehearsal. They will NOT need to attend both. Those classes will also only dance in one (possibly two) of the shows. A more detailed letter will go out in February with specific rehearsal times and which show(s) each class will need to be at.

COAT DRIVE
The Old Colony YMCA has asked us if we could be a community location for coat drive drop off for the homeless. If you would like to contribute you can drop off your donation by Friday, December 13. There is a labeled box in our downstairs waiting room.

ACCOUNTS NEED TO BE UP TO DATE
Costumes will be ordered at the end of December. Please make sure your account is up to date so your costume can be ordered on time. Students who drop a class after December 22 will still be responsible for the full payment of the costume.

CHRISTMAS VACATION
Our last class this month will be on Saturday, December 21. We will be closed from December 22 – January 5. Classes will resume on Monday, January 6.

ATTENDANCE
As we head into the new year, please remember the importance of attending and participating in class.

PROPER DANCE ATTIRE
A reminder that we do have a dress code in our classes. Please make sure your dancer is dressed appropriately for each of their classes. This allows teachers to help students with body alignment and technique corrections as well safely spotting tricks and lifts.

Dance wear is a perfect holiday gift! ☺️

HOLIDAY GIFTS
Speaking of holiday gifts. We have Carver Dance Center apparel and accessories on sale at the studio. Stop by and pick some up for the dancers on your gift list!
