Costumes

Costumes are ordered at the end of December, and are typically handed out the second week of April.

  • Once costume orders are placed, you can not be refunded even if your dancer has to drop out.
  • Your bill must be paid in full to be able to take costumes home.

ALL COSTUMES COME WITH A LABLE ON THEM. Check this label for parts that it should come with, what you need to get, and how hair should be worn.

  • Accessories will be kept at the prop table and are not packaged with your costume.
  • There may be some exceptions to this rule with the older students.

DO NOT IRON COSTUMES. Most costumes have been steamed before they were repackaged. Sometimes costumes are still a little wrinkled. If you would like you can hang them upside down in the bathroom while you take a shower, and the steam will help.

MAKE SURE TO KEEP THEM SOMEWHERE SAFE.

  • We do not have extra costumes and are unable to get replacements.
  • Please don’t let your students play in them or eat anything in them before the recital.

NO UNDERWEAR UNDER THE COSTUMES.

  • Tights have a built underwear type protection.
  • Underwear tends to hang out of costumes and the lighting on stage makes the underwear glow.

MAKE-UP IS ENCOURAGED.

  • Most classes do not have specific make-up so you can use whatever you are comfortable with like mascara, blush, and lipstick.
  • NO NAIL POLISH, clear or natural colors only.

NO JEWELRY EXCEPT STUD EARRINGS.

  • Jewelry gets caught on costumes and may damage to costume or the jewelry.

IF YOUR DANCER HAS MULTIPLE COSTUMES, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PURCHASE A BEIGE CAMISOLE LEOTARD.

  • Especially if they have quick changes and are changing backstage (there is NO privacy).
    • Students are not allowed to change in the bathroom at any time, so wearing a camisole keeps them covered and makes them feel more comfortable when changing costumes.
  • We do sell them at the studio.
  • We also sell the tights they will need.
    • Creative Movement and General Classes will receive tights with their costumes.
  • If your dancer has costume changes, be sure to label inside all your students costumes, shoes, and tights.
    • If something gets left behind, this is the only way to easily reunite items with the right dancer.

Tech Rehearsal

Tech Rehearsal is typically the weekend before the Recital.
Either Saturday or Sunday in the Carver Middle High School Auditorium.

All performers will need to stay in waiting rooms during the First Act with their volunteer (Supermom/Dad).

Those students who participate in the Mini Finale are finished performing after the First Act and are encouraged to stay and watch the Second Act. They love watching the big kids dance and the big kids love performing for them. You do not need to purchase a ticket for them.

All performers participating in the Grand Finale must stay in the dressing rooms for the whole performance.
